A Work of Art

A beautiful piece of art can be complimented over and again for it's beauty, it's specific brush strokes, it's fine detail. However, that piece of art itself has no knowledge of it's own value.

Whenever praise is given to a work of art, the praise reflects the artist.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

Psalm 139:14

Yes, your Creator, the Master Artist, created you wonderfully complex, and marvelous!

When someone compliments you, or acknowedges the talents God has perfectly placed within you, it is a reflection of His design and artistry.

Knowing that, you must understand that rejecting or deflecting a compliment is as much as saying that God didn't get it right when He made you. But we know He did! You are beautiful. You are wonderfully complex! You are marvelously created - a work of art. It is not prideful to say, "Thanks". It is not prideful because that praise said about you is really a reflection of the artist Who created you.

...and, if you happen to have a hard time receiving that compliment, it's okay for you to say, "I know, right?!" until you get used to it.

...although it could take up to three years before naturally receiving a compliment begins to sink in .... ;-P
